Kahvaltı (= breakfast)

Günaydın (= good morning) - gel, kahvaltımızı yapalım (= come on, let's have breakfast)

Breakfast culture is an indispensable element in all regions of Turkey. The food varies according to tradition and customs in the individual regions. But the understanding of a varied breakfast is the same everywhere. However, since there is not enough time for a full breakfast in modern society, people flock to places with breakfast spots, especially on weekends. While "Serpme Kahvaltı" (= scattered / mixed breakfast) is one of the most preferred breakfast options, the location and view of the breakfast location also play an important role. Having breakfast with family or friends is not just about getting together, but also about "sohbet" (= chat / conversation). Having breakfast together is like a morning ritual of the Turkish fellow citizens. Usually one is surprised when one sees a Turkish breakfast table for the first time. On the ample table you can choose from a large selection for your favorite dishes. There is a large selection of vegetables, but also fruit. Another basis of the Turkish breakfast is Çay of course, the Turkish black tea, which is usually enjoyed in tulip-shaped glasses. Everyone helps themselves from the bulging Turkish table according to their mood. No matter what you feel like doing, you will always find something on the table that appeals to you. In addition to the "Sucuklu Yumurta" (= garlic sausage with egg) or the "Menemen" (= a mix of peppers, onions and tomatoes), different types of cheese and types of jam are offered. The olives, which should never be missing from a Turkish breakfast, are particularly popular. I have given a list below, which can vary depending on the region, season and creativity of the individual providers.
